The role of topography in landform development at an active temperate glacier in Arctic Norway

Topography exerts a strong control on how glaciers respond to changes in climate. Increased understanding of this role is important for both refining model predictions future rates glacier recession and reconstructing climatic change from the glacial geological record. In paper, we examine geomorphological sedimentological evidence foreland Fingerbreen, temperate outlet plateau icefield Østre Svartisen. The aim investigate relationship between processes landform generation changing influence topography as progressed. Fingerbreen dominated by bouldery Little Ice Age moraines extensive areas striated bedrock. A heavily fluted zone occurs central part that cross-cut annual transverse sawtooth moraines. Systematic investigations structural architecture at various locations provide range moraine-forming processes, which can be linked topographic setting (e.g. deposition reverse bedrock slope) drainage conditions. This includes push bulldozing proglacial sediments squeezing sub-glacial submarginal freeze-on sediment slabs.
